NICHOLAS OWEN


Nicholas Owen is currently a presenter on Classic FM with his own weekend show. Formerly he was a presenter with BBC News, appearing on BBC1's Six O'Clock News, Ten O'Clock News, BBC Breakfast, and the Corporation's 24-hour News Channel. From 1994 to 2000 he was Royal Correspondent for ITV News. In that capacity he played a major role in reporting on the death and funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales. Nicholas compiled a book on her life entitled "Diana - The People's Princess", updated and republished in 2007. He has also appeared in a wide range of other TV and radio programmes, including BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing in 2006, Celebrity Mastermind, The Weakest Link, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and Countdown. He has presented BBC2's Proms programme, and a series for Classic FM. In addition, he undertakes a wide range of corporate work, and is an after-dinner - and after-lunch - speaker. He has hosted many industry and medical conferences, seminars, award ceremonies, and Question Time sessions in the UK and abroad, plus many charity functions. He also presents a light-hearted theatre show based on his wide range of experiences. Nicholas Owen began his journalistic career on the Surrey Mirror in 1964 before moving to Fleet Street in 1968. He worked for the Evening Standard and the Daily Telegraph, then spent seven years with the Financial Times.
